Small Moments
Life is made up of small moments. We clean the kitchen, take the cat on a walk, work, and love. If it is true that everything is connected, which it is, it becomes important to take care of the small moments, ourselves, and each other.
Joe came out of isolation from his bout of COVID and life is back to normal. Yesterday between rain showers, we went on a walk and Tiger the cat decided to come with us. Tiger is a reluctant hiker, either distracted by rodents or meowing and complaining. He walks though, and we wait for him while he smells the smells or shows off by climbing part of the way up a tree. We went to the creek and he got in just past his little paws to get a drink of fresh, icey cold flowing water, all the while with a woeful meow. With Tiger, the walk becomes something other than a way to go somewhere or get exercise. It becomes an exploration of the moment and a way to spend time together with each other, the trees, and the creek, rather than an effort to get somewhere that we are not.
Are you a reluctant hiker too? I mean metaphorically! Do you move through life, meowing and complaining, waiting for a better moment? I know I do sometimes. This moment is your life. Take care of it. Take care of your heart too.
