Who Walks By

Who walks by in your neighborhood? In the city, we don't get to see the footprints of those who walked before, so we might not think about the beings around us, each with a life and a story. Yesterday, while on a walk in the beautiful fall afternoon, I looked down to see a perfect foot print made in a bear poop. The bear had been eating huckleberries, leaving an artistic purple-colored medium for the second passing animal to also leave a trace of their rambling. It was a coyote (maybe!).

We are surrounded all of the time by others that we may not understand and might even be afraid of. Remember, though, that all beings long for ease. All beings, just like you, have a life filled with both challenges and joys. I protect myself (and Tiger the cat!) and even still, love those that I do not understand like the bear and the coyote. I leave the bear and the coyote to be the bear and the coyote; free to eat huckleberries and rabbits under the redwood trees.

May all beings be safe

May all beings have ease of well-being
